Multiple Award Winning artist, Cleo Ice Queen, recently announced her new deal with Def Jam Africa which has seen many Zambians celebrate her move including fellow celebrities.
She featured on Diamond TV’s Weekend Marathon show with Chimweka, Vida and Danny, monitored by Zed Hype Mag, to discuss this deal that she says took about two to three months of back and forth discussions and negotiations before officially signing with them.
When asked about how much the deal was worth, the Ice Queen refused to disclose and described a response to that as ‘someone winning an award and asking how much the award comes with’. This statement comes a few months after Zambian Media Personality, Mutale Mwanza won a Diamond TV Award for being voted as the Most Influential Social Media Personality and while receiving it on stage during the live broadcast of the event, she asked the organizers how much the award came with.
During the interview, the ‘Big Dreams’ & ‘Osaibala’ hitmaker encouraged people to subscribe to her husband, Kaladoshas’ YouTube channel and hit the notification button hinting to his return to activity in his music career. She said this before Kaladoshas officially announced his return to music releases with his latest song featuring Kekero.
Cleo Ice Queen further said that just like a deal with Kalandanya Music Promotions (KMP) or Nexus Music is, signing with Def Jam Records Africa is great for the growth of Zambian music. She also refused to disclose if any of the two local labels offered a record deal before Def Jam Records did.
