SeaTac, Washington — The 2024 African Achievement Awards took center stage on Sunday, December 15, at the Seattle Airport Marriott in SeaTac. This prestigious red-carpet event, marking its first in-person ceremony since 2020, was a resounding success, drawing approximately 450 distinguished guests from across the globe.
Designed to honor African excellence and leadership, the African Achievement Awards celebrated achievements in fields such as Community Service, Education, Entertainment, Fashion, Sports, and more. This year’s theme emphasized promoting tourism and economic empowerment in anticipation of Washington State hosting the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and FIFA World Cup 2026.
The event dazzled with a Hollywood-style ambience blended seamlessly with the richness of African traditions. Guests arrived dressed in formal black-tie attire or traditional African wear, adding vibrant cultural flair to the evening. Attendees were greeted by male and female models presenting flags of all African nations at the entrance, a symbolic nod to the continent’s unity and diversity.
The ceremony commenced with a glamorous red-carpet reception, followed by captivating entertainment and the much-anticipated awards presentation. The event hosted numerous VIPs, including His Majesty Chief Tahiru from Ghana, whose presence highlighted the event’s international appeal. Several elected officials also graced the occasion, including Washington Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove, SeaTac Mayor Mohamed Egal, Senator Tina Orwall, and State Representative Mia Gregerson.
