HipHop artiste “Slapdee” 2 days ago took it to twitter to express his concern about the naming of Streets after Artistes by local authorities and Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM). It’s definitely clear “Mwila Musonda” is not happy that local artistes are only recognized when they are dead not during their prime-time when they are alive.
He decided to send a message to every stakeholder responsible for this initiative that if they ever wanted to name a street after him, they should do it now when he is still alive and kicking not when he is gone. (See his tweet which he later deleted above)
So far 2 deceased Zambian legendary artistes have streets named after them. The first artiste to be honored in such a way is “Joe Chibangu” who passed on last year. Few months ago, “Paul Ngozi” was also followed suit.
