Jackson Demus Phiri popularly known as DJ Showstar is an award winning Zambian media personality, born on 20th September in a family of seven as a third child.
DJ Showstar did his junior secondary education at Northmead basic and Senior Secondary at City Education centre, he went further to study Public Relations at Evelyn Hone college which he finished in 2008, then studied Business Management at Evelyn Hone again for two years, he is currently at Information Communications University in third year pursuing Development Studies. He is also doing Accounts part time with the University of Zambia.
His passion for presenting was drawn from his love for television and radio, he got inspired by the presenters he constantly followed and hang out with.
He joined the media with the name Dj Showstar which describes him as the star of the show and center of attraction. Dj Showstar’s radio journey began at Hone FM where he was picked after an audition for a night show which he hosted for over 3 years, then he was later given the breakfast show and a weekend count down show.
Later in 2016 he joined Q FM where he is currently hosting the breakfast show, he has hosted the breakfast show for 7 years now. For years he also hosted a television show called HI-5 where he featured various artists, now he is currently hosting a TV show called Showstar’s House which combines current affairs, social issues, entertainment among other things.
In 2016 he won a Zambian music award for best male radio DJ, he recently won a D’Cue Award and got nominated for the Ngoma awards for best music promoter.
Away from presenting and promoting artists DJ Showstar also opened up a media house last year focused on different aspects of media like branding, content production among other services.
