Thandi’s career took flight as a student intern for Channel A TV at PBS Puget Sound Access Channel 77 TV Studios in Kent, Washington. Her passion for journalism blossomed during two years of shadowing professionals, and she eventually transitioned to reporting for professional sports, entertainment, pageantry, and charity programs alongside major media outlets such as NBC, ABC, and CBS. These opportunities gave Thandi an in-depth understanding of live broadcasting, and in 2016, at just 11 years old, she was named one of America’s youngest female television hosts and anchors. She also developed skills in directing, editing, and producing short films, showcasing her versatility in the industry.

Thandi’s work has seen her interviewing high-profile celebrities, including Anthony Anderson, John Stamos, Jojo Siwa, and Henry Winkler, to name a few. Additionally, she has covered prestigious events such as the NFL Super Bowl, College Football, We Day, and AVP Volleyball, experiences that have significantly shaped her as a journalist.

As she pursues her double major in Journalism and Business at the University of Washington, with plans to attend law school, Thandi is seizing the opportunity to further her expertise. During her recent visit to FOX 13 Studios, she shadowed Sports Director Aaron Levine during live productions and received invaluable advice from News Anchor David Rose. Multimedia Sports Producer Ethan McReynolds also shared insights on how she can build her unique identity and style in journalism, blending her fresh ideas with a solid foundation in traditional media.

Thandi’s ability to balance traditional journalism with cutting-edge technologies such as AI has given her a competitive edge. She continues to explore ways to integrate modern tools with the fundamentals of storytelling, ensuring that her work remains relevant, efficient, and authentic.

As Thandi aims to inspire youth not only in the U.S. but also in Africa, where her parents are from, she is well on her way to leaving a lasting impact. Her journey reflects the power of hard work, innovation, and a passion for journalism.
