Netflix recently premiered it’s first African Series called “Queen Sono” on 28th February, 2020 and the show has become an instant fan favorite for many. The South African Series which stars Peal Thusi, Vuyo Dabula, Abigail Kubeka among other prominent African Actors is about a highly trained spy who takes on her most dangerous mission yet while facing changing relationships in her personal life.
The Crime Series which is executive produced and directed by Kagiso Lediga and Tamsin Andersson also explores South Africa’s Apartheid roots. The first Season which is currently streaming on Netflix is 6 Episodes long and also fairly rated across the board. Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has already given the series a score or 4.7/10.
Surprisingly Queen Sono features “Final Form” by Sampa The Great in the opening scene of the first episode. The actors use Several African and foreign languages such as English, French, Russian, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu and Sotho to tell a modern heroic African Story. Watch the clip below!
